A palm frond shadow falling sharply across a textured white wall at high noon — black against warm white, faint cream where the wall texture catches a little sun. The painting is shadow as subject. The frond itself is nowhere in the frame. I painted it after photographing the same shadow on a wall in HSR for a week, watching it move across the day. Reads quiet. Hangs especially well in a sun-bright room.
