Multiple layers of wet colour pulled across the canvas with a wide squeegee in a single horizontal sweep. Jade rises through salmon; slate intrudes from the right; cream catches in the gaps. Each pass leaves striations — the substrate showing through, half-erased and half-revealed. You can read the painting like geological strata: time deposited in layers. The composition is accidental but the colour was chosen carefully.
