Three soft-edged horizons stacked one above the other — burnt sienna at the top, a thin band of cream holding the middle, deep indigo settling at the bottom. The edges feather into one another the way colour does when you've thinned it too far. I keep coming back to this one in the late afternoon. It reads warmer at dusk, when the light in the room turns the indigo almost purple. A quiet painting. Meant to be lived with, not looked at.
